Jean-François Portaels 1818-1895
Overview
Jean-François Portaels was a Belgian painter. He studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels under J.F. Navez and furthered his training in Paris with Paul Delaroche. In 1842, he won the prestigious Grand Prix de Rome.
