Jean Vyboud 1872-1944

Overview

A student of Gustave Moreau and François Flameng, he inherited from his work as an engraver (producing prints after Velázquez and Chardin), an impeccable command of line that masterfully suggests volume, masking beneath technique and apparent balance the underlying tension and sensuality of a refined aesthetic. He exhibited at the Salon from the age of twenty.
